The Waseda Journal of Political Science and Economics, the academic journal of the Waseda Society of Political Science and Economics (hereafter, “the Society”), published its first issue in 1925 (Taishō 14). Since then, it has continued publication throughout the Shōwa and Heisei eras, culminating in the publication of Issue No. 400 in the 2025 academic year.

Since Issue No. 354, published in 2004, the journal transitioned to a peer‑reviewed submission-based format, and we have since been fortunate to receive submissions and contributions from individuals outside the Society. We extend our sincere appreciation for their support.

At the same time, numerous academic journals—both domestically and internationally—now publish scholarly research articles that align with the Society’s mission: “the study and promotion of academic research related to politics and economics.” In view of these circumstances, the Society’s Council, at its meeting held in April 2024, resolved to suspend publication of the journal.
