The Waseda Society of Political Science and Economics Constitution
Article 1: This organization shall be called The Waseda Society of Political Science and Economics.
Article 2: This association aims to promote research and education in the Faculty of Political Science and Economics (FPSE) at Waseda University and, to this end, conduct the following activities.
① Editing and publishing articles
② Holding lectures
③ Providing financial support for projects organized by the faculties, graduate schools, and research institutes affiliated with Waseda University’s FPSE
④ Organizing other necessary activities
2. Financial support under item 3 of the preceding paragraph will be provided after deliberation by the Board of Trustees.
Article 3: The association shall be organized with the following members:
① Full-time faculty members of the FPSE at Waseda University
② Undergraduate and graduate school students affiliated with the FPSE at Waseda University
③ Members recommended by the President of the Association with the consent of the Board of Trustees.
Article 4: Members must pay an admission fee of 2,000 yen and an annual membership fee of 1,500 yen in advance.
2. Students must pay their membership fees to Waseda University along with tuition fees.
Article 5: The following officers shall be appointed to the association:
① President: The President shall be the Senior Dean of the FPSE at Waseda University. The President shall represent the association and preside over its affairs. If the President cannot perform their duties, the Chairperson of the General Affairs Committee shall temporarily act on their behalf.
② Trustees: The President shall appoint trustees from among the full-time faculty members of the FPSE at Waseda University, including professors and associate professors. However, reappointments shall not be precluded.
③ General Affairs Committee Members: Several General Affairs Committee members shall be appointed by the President from among the trustees. Their term of office shall be two years, and reappointments shall not be precluded. The General Affairs Committee members shall elect a chairperson from among themselves.
④ Editorial Committee Members: Several Editorial Committee Members shall be appointed by the President from among the trustees. The term office shall be two years, and reappointment shall not be precluded. The Editorial Committee members shall elect a chairperson from among themselves.
⑤ The Liberal Arts Research Center Members: Several Liberal Arts Research Center members shall be appointed by the President from among the Trustees. The term of office shall be two years, and reappointment shall not be precluded.
⑥ Audit Committee Members: Two Audit Committee members shall be elected from among the trustees. Their term of office shall be two years, and in principle, they shall not be reelected.
Article 6: The Board of Trustees meets twice yearly, convened by the President, to discuss important matters. However, the President may convene extraordinary meetings when necessary.
Article 7: The General Affairs Committee, convened by its chairperson, shall be responsible for managing the association, external relations, and other matters.
Article 8: The administrative office of the association shall be located within the School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University.
【Supplemental Provisions】
1. These rules are expected to come into effect on June 12, 2024.
2. Japan Association of Political Economy Constitution (latest revision on March 15, 2005) and The Liberal Arts Research Center
The School of Political Science and Economics at Waseda University (latest revision on March 2, 2004) was abolished on March 31, 2008.
3. The “Editorial Committee Regulations” described in Article 5, Item 4, and Article 8 of the Association Regulations (enacted on April 1, 2008) were abolished on June 30, 2022.
